These come along with multiple-choice answers. The answers (4 choices) are all the same for all questions and it indicates the level of one’s feeling. The four choices are: Not at All, Mildly (It did not bother me much), Moderately (It was very unpleasant but I could stand it) and Severely (I could barely stand it).

The questions are basically about the person’s mental state in the last week. Based on the answers given by the person, the severity level is determined. Each answer in the Beck Anxiety Inventory comes with a score (o-3) and the total score is to be calculated accordingly.

The scoring is divided into 4 parts and based on it the severity would be determined. If a person’s score is between 0 – 7 it means he is affected very minimally by anxiety. If it is 8 – 15 it is mild affliction, 16 – 25 means it is moderate and if it is 26 and above it indicates that the person is severely affected by anxiety. The Beck Anxiety Inventory has been derived at after careful study and extensive research and it has been proved to be of great help clinically. It is easily adaptable by all age groups from adolescence to the elderly. It is an easy to take self-test. This gives a clear picture and clarity of anxiety disorder. It also clearly defines if one is really afflicted by this disorder or is simply under depression.

The Beck Anxiety Inventory is quite simple and can be taken up by anyone irrespective of intellectual disabilities and hardly takes 5 – 10 minutes time. It can be taken even by visually impaired persons through oral communication.
